Governor Abbott Appoints Four To Correctional Managed Health Care Committee

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Brandon Cantazaro, M.D. and Robert Suter, D.O. and reappointed Robert “Bobby” Greenberg, M.D. and Divyansu Patel, M.D. to the Correctional Managed Health Care Committee for terms set to expire on February 1, 2029. Greenberg will continue to serve as chair of the committee. The committee coordinates the development of statewide policies for the delivery of health care within the criminal justice system.

Robert “Bobby” Greenberg, M.D. of Belton is the vice president and chief medical officer of Emergency Services at Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas. He is a past president and member of the Texas College of Emergency Physicians and a member of the Texas Medical Association, and the American College of Emergency Physicians. He was previously appointed to and served as Chair for the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC). Additionally, he is a board member and volunteer physician at Temple Community Clinic. Greenberg received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Northeast Louisiana University and a Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical Center-Shreveport. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati.

Brandon Cantazaro, M.D. of McAllen, serves as Chief Medical Officer of The University of Texas Health Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and Division Chief of Internal Medicine at the UTRGV School of Medicine. He is an active member of the Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society, the American College of Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine (South Texas Chapter), and the Texas Medical Association. Cantazaro received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Arizona and a Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.

Robert Suter, D.O. of Conroe is the senior associate dean for clinical integration at the Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He previously served as a joint task force surgeon and deputy commanding general for the United States Army Medical Department. He was honorably discharged in 2023 after 45 years of service. Additionally, he is a past president of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, delegate and reference chair for the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society, delegate for the American Osteopathic Association and the American Medical Association, past president for the American and Texas Colleges of Emergency Physicians, past president of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, and board member for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. Suter received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Political Science from Washington University, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Divyansu Patel, M.D. of Austin is the director of medical engagement for Bristol Myers Squibb. He previously served as principal investigator at Biobehavioral Research of Austin, as vice president of behavior health at TeleMed2U, and as a psychiatrist at Specialty Clinic of Austin. He is a member of the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Patel received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Decision Information Science from the University of Florida and a Doctor of Medicine from the Saba University School of Medicine.
